There was a time when I really wanted to and even secretly believed that I'd end up living in New Orleans. Then Hurricane Katrina happened and the fantasy was ruined.

Here is what I can tell you about my time there. I was having an affair with this amazing neon artist that had the most beautiful breasts I have ever seen on a woman, to this day. And trust me, I've seen a lot! Okay, I'm getting off track. So, I used to go over to her house and help her construct her neon art. She was a well known and successful artist and did some historic installations like this one below, which sits above Santa Fe, New Mexico. I actually had photos of me here but I can't find them at the moment.

In honor of Halloween, the Whiskey Goldmine thought it would be a good idea to warn our readers whether or not their favorite watering hole was occupied by demons, ghostly ghouls, portals to hell, or just playful poltergeists.  The list below is a compilation of the scariest places to have a drink.  You might not be scared, but the walking dead have been known to take advantage of the inebriated so watch your step. 

Romantic Getaways ~A Night at New Mexico's Bishop's Lodge

In every state there is that one really romantic and mysterious hotel that you have always wanted to stay at. In Northern New Mexico, it would be The Bishops Lodge. I have somewhat of an obligation to tell you that I myself have not spent more than a few nights there, but oddly enough~and trust me, my family found it odd and cringed at what it must have cost him~but my grandfather actually lived at Bishop's Lodge for up to maybe a year. My grandfather was very eccentric and of course -- an artist/photographer... so this was not surprising to me. My dad would laugh at my grandfather's response to being asked "Dad, why are you living at The Bishop's Lodge?" His response was "The maids treat me very well." People familiar with Hollywood's famed Chateau Marmont will understand this completely.
